blown away

It seems like we aren't getting wacky enough weather. Last week we were freezing our butts off at -25 and this week we hit a high of 11 degrees. And then the windstorm kicked in yesterday with winds raging up to 100km/hr. I felt like I was going to fly right off the street on my way to work. Last year we had a slab of marble fall off the BMO tower downtown. This year's masterpiece was the "C" coming off the CIBC's 58th storey building. I wonder what's next...

a new year, a new start

I can't believe how fast Christmas went by this year. Most of it was spent with family, including several dim sum sessions with the grandparents. Unfortunately, there was no family dinner on my dad's side this year, the first time I can ever recall this happening. It's a rarity but my oldest aunt's health isn't what it used to be.

I slept lots. Every day. It was awesome. Of the trip, only two days were beautiful and sunny (we had a white Christmas! and I had thought I had gotten away with the snow!!) But those sunny days were gorgeous and the mountains, majestic as ever with a light dusting of snow. It was really sad to leave. Not only that, but my cousin's wife was due to give birth any day after Christmas. Turned out she was born on New Year's Eve! So I didn't even get a chance to see her.

Now I'm back to winter wonderland where the temperatures dropped to a bone chilling -25 with windchill. I just have to tell myself that it will be worthwhile in the end. And that I will be going back.
