film fest craze

I don't get it. Every year, millions (or at least it seems that way) of people wander the city to watch the films during the Toronto International Film Festival. I suppose if you're crazy enough you join the hordes wearing their passes attached to Starbucks branded lanyards while you feast your eyes on movie after movie. I think I saw Sandra Bullock today sitting out on the patio with another female. I couldn't be positive and since I'm just not one to be starstruck, I didn't stop to ask if it was really her. In any case, last night, on my way to meet a friend for dessert, I passed by the Elgin Theatre and there were just tons and tons of people lined up waiting to catch the stars. Apparently Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were to arrive for their showing of Jesse James. I heard there were people who had lined up since 9am to catch a glimpse. It was almost 9pm by the time I went by. No way would you find me standing around. I can definitely think of better things to do with my time! I went for a nice swim and yoga instead. :P
