salt stains suck

and so do losers who swipe people's boots. I had left my boots outside my apartment door overnight as I have done so for the past two years. Others down the hallway do the same. I woke up and found them missing. Someone had %$#^ swiped them. I couldn't believe it. It's not as if these were designer Uggs or anything at all. In fact, I didn't even OWN a pair of boots before I moved here... I only brought them because I figured I'd need it for snowier climes. And indeed, these are my mother's old things for crying out loud. So I spent 3 hours trolling the mall after work, trekking into every single shoe store to try to find a pair of boots that didn't have heels or dingle-dangle pompoms, and were waterproof. Simple request? Not at all. I was choked more over the fact that my mom's were semi-waterproof than anything else.

I ran into my neighbour and told her what had happened so that she wouldn't leave her stuff out. She ended up lending me a pair of her Uggs in the meantime. Thank the sweet girl. In her own words, she is a "boot whore." Now I just have to figure out how to get those nasty salt stains off her boots...

25 cm in 24 hr

We were warned. It's something that I'll dub Stormwatch 2007. Yesterday we had snow on and off in mad waves. Last night, the wind blew through at over 80km/hr, howling and swirling the freshly powdered snow around. It was freeze-my-ass off cold even as I went to yoga and tried to "stock up" as the news told people to do. Make sure you have battery operated radios and candles the news warns. Met a friend close by for dinner and nearly wiped out going out my apt. building, and then again in front of the restaurant steps. Not cool.

Last night I could barely sleep. Somewhat feeling like a child on Christmas day, in eager anticipation, but also due to the wind that rattled my windows and the thunder claps. I woke up to snow swirling, coming down as ice pellets against the windows at time. Today is going to be a sweet day staying indoors. It would have been sweeter if this happened on a weekday and work got cancelled. When it's all said and done, it could be the worst storm in 60 years.

eat your heart out

So my latest task has been to do restaurant reviews. Poor me, eh? I get to go try all these places I've been wanting to go to over the past two years... but unfortunately, it's like the people forgot there were reviews to be done and I've been going to restaurants like there's no tomorrow. End of the year is coming up, and damnit, these restaurants MUST be reviewed. Ok, so all that slimming down from the sick-soup diet? I've basically gained back all the weight I lost. How can I not when I'm eating out several times a week? You'd never believe it but I am almost dying to be home to eat a nice light and fat-free meal. Throw in some Christmas parties and you're on your way to breaking the scale.
