5.6 @ 20:04

So it figures that while I'm away in California, I am "lucky" as a good friend would say, to have gone through another earthquake. I was sitting on my bed in the hotel room watching some tv and chatting on the phone when my bed starts rolling. I thought that perhaps someone was maybe having some serious action in the next bedroom, or that the laundromat was beneath my bedroom. The cabinet doors to the tv were swinging but nothing much else was. I said to the person on the phone, "I think we're having an earthquake" and ran to the window where people were standing outside chatting. Hmm... so strange. I'd been through a few earthquakes but people were so calm like they didn't even notice it.

A quick change in the channel showed that a medium earthquake of 5.6 hit out of San Jose and that there was very minor damage and no injuries. Chalk it up to another interesting story to tell!

row, row, row your boat

Nothing says rich like a big lunch on a business account. I was taken to Canoe on the 54th floor of the TD Tower. Apparently lots of people have business accounts since the place was packed. We had a great table right by the window. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day.

My meal consisted of:
- Drink special
Mango, banana and orange juice in champagne flute with blueberries and raspberries
- Pan-Seared La Ferme Foie Gras (22)
Sunflower Root, Pumpkin Muffin and Walnut Pickle
- Broiled BC Sablefish (22)
Sunchokes, Cookstown Spring Roots, Bacon Dressing and Newfoundland Screech
-Fireweed Honey Butter Tart (11)
Saskatoon Berries, Miller St. Porter and Walnut Icecream
- Orange Pekoe-Ceylon Rathnapura
A Rare Tea from the Dimbula District of Sri Lanka

Needless to say, I didn't have dinner that night.
